Harendra & Jyoti — Pre-Wedding Shoot in Chitrakoot

Ganesh Bagh · Ram Ghat · Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot gives you two completely different films in one day. Ganesh Bagh in the morning — sandstone arches, a still lake, corridors that go on forever. Then Ram Ghat after dark, where a decorated boat and a wall of lights on the water do all the work for you. Harendra and Jyoti shot both, plus a slow afternoon by the river in between.

Ganesh Bagh

We started early, while the light was still soft and the complex was empty. Kerala kasavu for the morning — cream and gold against warm sandstone is a combination that never misses.

The arches over the lake

The lakeside pavilions are the reason to shoot here. Every arch is a frame, and the water behind them keeps the background clean without any work.

At the water’s edge

Shoes off, feet over the water. The quietest twenty minutes of the day and some of our favourite frames from it.

The old corridor

A long row of arches with light falling in from one side. We shot straight down it for the symmetry, then moved in for portraits where the light lands.

By the river

Second outfit, afternoon light, and a completely different mood — nothing planned, just walking and sitting by the water.

A picnic on the lawn

Books, flowers, a basket and a lot of laughing. Setups like this only work when the couple is comfortable — Harendra and Jyoti were, from the first frame.

Ram Ghat after dark

This is what people come to Chitrakoot for. A decorated boat, lights strung across the water, diyas on the steps — you barely have to add anything. Red for the evening, and the Mandakini doing the rest.

Planning a pre-wedding shoot in Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot is an easy destination from Prayagraj (Allahabad) — close enough to do in a day, different enough that it does not look like anywhere else. Ganesh Bagh works best in the first two hours after sunrise, when the arches are empty and the lake is still. Ram Ghat is an evening location: the boats are decorated for the aarti crowd and the lights come on around dusk. If you want both, plan one full day and carry two or three outfits.
