Top 10 Pre-Wedding Shoot Locations in Prayagraj (Allahabad)

Two rivers meeting at the Sangam, a Mughal garden, colonial cathedrals, a lit-up cable bridge — very few cities give this much variety within a 30-minute drive. We shoot here every week; this is what actually works on camera.

1. Triveni Sangam — the boat shoot

The Sangam, where the Ganga and Yamuna meet, is the signature Prayagraj frame. A golden-hour boat shoot — flowing dupatta, boats and flags behind you — looks straight out of a film. From November to February, migratory birds take off around your boat: the most cinematic 30 seconds you can get here. Book the sunrise slot for soft light and an empty river.

Best light: sunrise, 5:45–7:30, or the last 40 minutes before sunset. Permission: no monument permit needed, but the boat has to be booked the evening before. Plan for: crowds build after 8am, and a boat seats two people plus crew comfortably — no more.

2. Arail Ghat — the quiet riverside

Across the Yamuna on the Naini side, Arail Ghat gives you a clean, wide riverbank with sunrise over the water — and far fewer crowds than the main ghats. Perfect for slow walking shots and wide romantic frames. Pair it with the Sangam boat shoot in a single morning.

Best light: sunset, when the far bank turns gold. Permission: none — it is an open riverbank. Plan for: soft sand. Carry a second pair of shoes and expect to walk.

3. Khusro Bagh — Mughal arches and orchards

A walled Mughal-era garden with sandstone tombs, carved gateways and guava orchards. This is where royal-theme outfits — lehenga, sherwani, jewel tones — belong. Late-afternoon light through the arches is magic. It’s a protected monument, so professional shoots need prior permission; we arrange that as part of your booking.

Best light: 7–9am, before the sandstone goes flat and white. Permission: ASI-protected monument — professional shoots and tripods usually need prior permission. Plan for: long walks between the three tombs, so pick outfits you can move in.

4. Anand Bhavan — heritage and lawns

The Nehru family’s ancestral home gives a heritage-editorial look: colonial architecture, blue-and-cream facade, manicured lawns. It’s a ticketed museum with photography rules, so this one needs planning — weekday mornings are calmest.

Best light: mid-morning, when the lawns are lit but the shadows are still soft. Permission: ticketed museum property — check the photography rules at the counter before you plan interiors. Plan for: the frames that work here are outdoors, on the lawns and the drive.

5. New Yamuna Bridge — city lights and cinema

Prayagraj’s cable-stayed bridge is the city’s most modern frame. Shoot from the bank or a boat below at blue hour, with the lit pylons rising behind you — urban, cinematic, ideal for western outfits and night portraits.

Best light: blue hour — the 20–30 minutes after sunset, once the cables light up. Permission: public road, none needed. Plan for: live traffic. We shoot from the approach and the footpath, never from the carriageway.

6. Chandrashekhar Azad Park (Company Garden)

Over a hundred acres of lawns, tree tunnels and the colonial-era public library as a stone backdrop. Winter mornings bring soft mist through the trees. Great for candid, picnic-style setups — props, cycles, coffee mugs, laughter.

Best light: 7–9am under the old trees, before the park fills up. Permission: public park, free entry. Plan for: morning walkers — the quieter, better-lit corners are on the far side from the main gate.

7. All Saints Cathedral (Patthar Girja)

A 19th-century Gothic cathedral in pale stone — arches, symmetry, stained glass. The exterior alone gives fairy-tale frames, especially at dusk when the lights come on. Around Christmas it’s decorated and extra special.

Best light: late afternoon, on the west face. Permission: ask the church office in advance; services always take priority. Plan for: modest, covered outfits — this is a working church, not a set.

8. Saraswati Ghat & the Allahabad Fort walls

Akbar’s fort rises straight out of the Yamuna — you shoot it from a boat or the ghat steps with the sunset behind the sails. The fort itself is an army area, so the river-facing view is the shot — and it’s a stunner.

Best light: sunset, using the fort wall as a dark frame against the sky. Permission: the ghat is open, but drones are restricted near the fort and defence areas. Plan for: uneven steps and low light — heels do not work here.

9. Minto Park (Madan Mohan Malviya Park)

Quiet riverside lawns near Saraswati Ghat with a colonial memorial column at the centre. Easy light, greenery, no chaos — a relaxed buffer location that pairs perfectly with a ghat sunset shoot.

Best light: golden hour around the stone canopy. Permission: public park. Plan for: a compact space. This works best as a 30–40 minute stop inside a bigger plan, not a full session on its own.

10. Magh Mela grounds — the once-a-year frame (Jan–Feb)

Every January–February the Sangam sands turn into a tent city: flags, pontoon bridges, evening aartis, morning fog. Documentary-style pre-wedding frames you literally cannot get anywhere else, shot respectfully around the mela’s religious character.

Best light: dawn fog, or the evening aarti. Permission: no formal permit, but this is a religious gathering — we shoot around it, never inside ritual spaces. Plan for: January–February only, and very heavy crowds.

Best time for a pre-wedding shoot in Prayagraj

August–October: post-monsoon greenery — Company Garden and Khusro Bagh at their best, and the golden window before wedding-season rush. November–February: soft winter light, migratory birds at the Sangam, and the Magh Mela — dates fill fast, book 1–2 months ahead. March–June: absolutely doable with a sunrise-plus-blue-hour plan.

Permissions and practical tips

Protected monuments (Khusro Bagh) and museum properties (Anand Bhavan) need prior permission or tickets for professional shoots — PickYouPic handles the recce and permissions for every location we book. Drones are restricted near the fort and defence areas. Keep 2–3 outfits matched to locations: ethnic for Khusro Bagh, western for the bridge, casual for the ghats. Weekdays beat weekends everywhere.

How much does a pre-wedding shoot in Prayagraj cost?

It depends on locations, hours, team size, and whether you want a cinematic teaser film with your photos. See our packages & pricing, or message us on WhatsApp for an exact same-day quote. Many of our couples come from Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Mirzapur — we plan a one-day route so you land, shoot, and head back with everything done.

Kaunsi location, kaunsa look

Dus jagah ki list dekh kar confusion hota hai. Aasan tareeka ye hai — pehle ye tay karo ki tumhari photos ka look kya hona chahiye, location apne aap chun jayegi.

  • Cinematic and wide — the frames that look like a film still: the Sangam boat at sunrise, Arail Ghat at sunset, and the New Yamuna Bridge at blue hour. Best if you want motion, sky and scale.
  • Heritage and regal — sandstone, arches and symmetry: Khusro Bagh, Anand Bhavan and All Saints Cathedral. Best if your outfits are traditional and heavy.
  • Green and soft — trees, shade and calm: Chandrashekhar Azad Park and Minto Park. Best for a relaxed, candid morning session in lighter clothes.
  • Documentary, once a year — Magh Mela, January to February only. Best if you want frames nobody else in your circle will have.

Most couples pick one from the first group, one from the second, and one from the third. That combination gives an album that does not look like the same afternoon repeated thirty times.

Ek din ka realistic plan

Teen se zyada locations ek din me mat rakhna. Har extra jagah ka matlab hai travel, parking, outfit change aur thaki hui expressions. Ye hai wo timeline jo hum sach me follow karte hain:

  • 5:15 am — pickup. Yes, it is early. The Sangam is a different place before 8am.
  • 5:45–7:30 — Triveni Sangam boat shoot, sunrise through soft light.
  • 7:45–8:30 — breakfast and first outfit change.
  • 8:45–10:15 — Khusro Bagh, while the sandstone still has direction in the light.
  • 10:30–4:00 — break. Nobody photographs well in Prayagraj’s midday sun, and pretending otherwise is how you get a tired album.
  • 4:30–5:30 — Company Garden or Minto Park, second outfit.
  • 5:45–6:30 — New Yamuna Bridge for blue hour, and we finish.

Ye plan season ke hisaab se shift hota hai — sardi me sab kuch 30–40 minute baad, garmi me utna hi pehle. Booking ke baad hum tumhare exact date ka sunrise–sunset nikaal kar timeline bhejte hain.

Kya pehnein — aur kya nahi

Do se teen outfits kaafi hain. Us se zyada ka matlab hai ki tum din bhar kapde badalte rahoge, photos khinchane ke bajaye.

  • Solid colours beat busy prints. Fine checks and small repeating patterns can shimmer on camera; a solid colour holds up at every distance.
  • Khusro Bagh aur Anand Bhavan pe sandstone ke against deep colours — maroon, bottle green, mustard — sabse achhe padte hain. Beige aur cream background me ghul jaate hain.
  • Sangam pe all-white se bacho. The sand and water throw a lot of light back, and white tends to blow out in the frame.
  • Comfortable shoes carry karo. Ghat ki seedhiyan, Khusro Bagh ki lambi walk aur Arail ki reti — heels teeno jagah dushman hain.
  • Ek dupatta ya shawl rakho — cathedral aur temple frames ke liye, respect ke saath aur photos me bhi achha lagta hai.
